Visiting the Museum

We look forward to welcoming you to our unique and tranquil riverside setting. Our story takes you from Roman times through medival peat digging to the holiday makers, sailors and environmentalists of today. Discover the boats of the Broads and take a trip on the river. 


Opening Times & Prices

The Museum closes for 2019 on Fri 01 Nov.  It re-opens on Wed 25 March, Sunday to Friday, 10:00 to 16:30. We are closed on Saturdays.

Bring the Kids

Discover the story of the Broads, its people, its wildlife, its landscape and its boats. Don’t miss our ‘Hats Off’ trail around the Museum. Meet a Broads character by wearing his or her hat and take a selfie to prove it!

Bring the Dog

Dogs are welcome, no additional entrance fee



The Museum has four buildings: the Barton Building, the Surlingham Building, Wroxham Building and the Oulton Boat Shed.
