The Museum of the Broads

Bringing the story of the Broads alive

The Museum is preparing to open at the end of July.  We are making some changes to ensure everyone on site is as safe as we can make them.  Your visit will still be interesting and enjoyable and we hope to offer boat trips too.  More information here shortly, and on our social media pages.

Meanwhile, we have a YouTube Channel to take you behind the scenes at the Museum.  And, our Arts Council England funded Virtual Museum project is underway!  Find out more here.

Help us to take our Museum into the future

Our collection of items from the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads is unique and our vision is for everyone to discover the stories our items tell.

The impact of Covid 19 has hit the Museum hard.  Instead of planning our re-development, we are concentrating on surviving the loss of visitors and income.  Times are tough for all, but if you are able to give a donation to help the Museum, please click the button below.  Thank you.

Opening Times

The Museum is closed due to Covid 19.  Check our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for more information and see our YouTube channel for behind the scenes videos.

Admission Prices for 2020

Adults £6.00, Children £2.00.

Where are We?

Find us at The Poor’s Staithe, Stalham, NR12 9DA, just off the A149 at the turning to Richardson’s Boatyard.

A map and directions are available on the How to Find Us page.

See our 2020 exhibition, ‘Wish You Were Here! Holidays on the Broads’

Find out how tourism changed the Broads. Discover how railways brought holidays to ordinary people, see some of the early travel adverts, find a surprising link to the hovercraft, and, in the year that celebrates the 200th anniversary of the Museum’s own waterside buildings, trace the history of staithes using Stalham as a worthy example. Film and a peep board too!
