‘From Sails to Blades – How Wind Power Shaped the Broads’
Wind has powered the Broads for centuries.
Windmills, wind pumps, sail boats used by the Romans and Vikings, and specialised Broads craft such as the Keel and Wherries, have all left their mark on the Broads. And what of the future? The first electricity generating wind turbines in Norfolk were situated in the Broads landscape.
Explore the Ellis Eel trail, try knot tying, dress up, play boats, and more for all ages.
We have education packs, worksheets and trails and can tailor the visit to suit your class. Free pre-visit for teachers.
We host many events throughout the year, from music to family days.
