A "Wherry" Special Visit

Step aboard Wherry Maud, one of the two remaining trading wherries sailing on the Norfolk Broads today and learn about her history from the Wherry Maud Trust’s knowledgeable volunteers. “Maud” is a very special wherry, the last of the typical clinker-built wherries to sail on the Norfolk Broads and Rivers.

Explore the museum and follow the mysterious lights to find out about the ghostly Wherry “Mayfly”. Along the way, complete the spooky tasks to reveal Mayfly’s long-lost secrets. Discover them all and a piece of wherry treasure could be yours!

Join us on the riverbank with Taverham Brass Band and enjoy a musical medley from ‘Stage and Screen.’ Locally brewed Ale from Lacon’s, the original owners of our Steam Launch, Falcon, will be available along with other refreshments. One thing’s for sure. You’ll definitely want an ‘Encore!’

Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 29th - September 4th

 

Come aboard Marsh Harrier for this special evening cruise.  As you quietly travel along the river, enjoy the wildlife and look out for the kingfishers.

Will you take that unique photo or will you just see a flash of blue?

Please note, we cannot guarantee you will see kingfishers – but these are the best times to try!  And there is plenty of other water loving wildlife around for you to spot and photograph too.

The Museum won’t be open, but our shop will be.  Hot/cold drinks, pre-packed snack items and ice creams are available and you are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy beforehand.

Please dress appropriately for the weather as it can get cold.

Free entry day for people with dementia and their carers

Many of the stories we tell bring back memories.  If you, or someone you care for has dementia, please visit us for free on this Tuesday.  No need to book – just turn up.

There is a sunny cafe area and a large outside picnic area by the river.  We sell a small selection of sandwiches, wrapped cakes, crisps, ice creams and drinks and you are also welcome to bring your own food.  Our shop sells Broads themed items too.

If you would like a boat trip on our accessible boat, Marsh Harrier, please telephone to reserve your seat/s.  60 mins trip: £9 per adult, £6 per under 18.
